Canada’s Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots (Child Care & Home Support), launched on March 31, 2025, now offer home care workers a faster route to permanent residency.

Eligibility Criteria

Language Proficiency: Minimum Level 4 for all 4 language skills (writing, reading, listening and speaking) in English or French.

Education: To qualify, you need education equal to a Canadian high school diploma or higher. If you studied abroad, you must get your credentials assessed to confirm they match Canadian standards.

At least 6 months of recent, relevant work experience or completion of a related home care training program of at least 6 months.

Training

The training must be targeted towards the following NOC job categories

Your training must be at the post-secondary level and completed on a full-time basis, with at least 15 hours of instruction per week during the academic year or study period.
The program should be delivered primarily in an in-person classroom setting, must have been started when you were at least 17 years old, and completed within the two years before applying.
If you completed this training outside Canada, you do not need an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), unless you are also using the training to meet the education requirement. Training will not count if it was focused on occupations outside this pilot (for example, medical field training), completed mainly online, or obtained through on-the-job training.

Note: If you are a home care worker in Canada without status, you may still be eligible for the Home Care Worker Immigration pilots under a public policy.
